ALDI: Saving by not shopping
I've been trying to limit my ALDI shopping to one time per week. That means that I buy more at each trip, but it keeps me from buying impulse items on a second trip. Plus, there's the time and gas spent getting there and back. It's not that much, but it adds up week after week!
Here's what I got this week:
1 dozen eggs @ $1.49
2 gallons milk @ $3.39 = $6.78
1 apple juice concentrate @ 99¢
1 16-oz shredded mozzarella @ $3.29
1 cream cheese @ $1.29
1 3-lb Fuji apples @ $3.49
1 celery @ $1.29
1 instant oatmeal @ $1.49
1 Romaine hearts @ $2.19
1 2-lb sweet onions @ 89¢
2.26 lb bananas @ 44¢/lb = 99¢
1 3-ct tomatoes @ $1.19
2 2-ct green peppers @ 99¢ = $1.98
1 baby carrots @ 99¢
1 6-ct plain bagels @ $1.69
Total spent: $30.03

I can relate to saving by not shopping. For the past 3 weeks, I have been able to stay well under budget by just grocery shopping once a week. I used to go back out for more milk or more bananas and would end up getting more than I'd planned. Since I've spent a ton this month on non-grocery items (b-day, back-to-school, uniforms, and medication), I decided to try to recoup some money from my grocery budget and so far, I've saved $106 - that almost covers the cost of my son's school uniforms so I am very happy. My younger son gets mad because we run out of bananas, but oh well. lol.
