Menu plan 1/21/13: More challenging meal planning
As I mentioned last week, I've been really looking at how much sugar my family consumes. I'm doing this because of a book I read, Fat Chance: Beating the Odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity, and Disease by Robert H. Lustig, M.D. I highly recommend it!
Unfortunately, following the suggestions means that we'll be cutting white flour and sugar products back to maybe one time per week. That means big pasta meals, breakfast for dinner (too much syrup!), and a lot of my other favorite meals will be severely limited. Sigh.
Oh, well, it just makes for more challenging meal planning!
Here's this week's plan:
Monday - baked salmon fillets, roasted peppers and onions
Tuesday - veggie chili (with pasta for the kids)
Wednesday - garlic tilapia fillets, salad
Thursday - picadillo over brown rice
Friday - chicken soup, baked chicken breasts, salad, challah
Saturday - Sundried Tomato Beefaroni
Sunday - takeout sandwiches and salads
