Walgreens: Overplan, underexpect
When you shop for deals at the grocery and drug stores, I think it's a good idea to plan for more deals than you might expect to get. Some deals just aren't going to work out once you get to the store!
For instance, I saw that selected Kellogg's cereals were on sale for $1.99 this week at Walgreens. I was hoping that one of the cereals from this $1/2 Kellogg's Corn Flakes, Kellogg's Crispix or Kellogg's FiberPlus Cereals @Walmart printable coupon would be part of the sale, so I put them on my list and printed them out.
I also hoped to buy 2 8.5 oz Softsoap containers, which were on a BOGO sale, and use the $1/2 SoftSoap Liquid Hand Soap Pump or Refill, exp. 10/20/12 (SS 09/30/12 R) coupon. But my store only had 7.5 oz products, and the coupon specifies that is only for 8 oz containers. I could have purchased the 28 oz refill containers, but I decided to pass instead.
But of course, none of the cereals from that coupon were part of the sale.
I had a problem with the Advil congestion relief deal. Even with my card, the price rang up as $7.99, not $6. I told the cashier about this and she corrected the price. And I didn't receive the Balance Rewards that I was supposed to get. That I didn't notice until after I left. Anyone know how to get the Balance Rewards credited to my account?
Here's what I did get this week:
2 Dixie napkins @ BOGO $3.79
- 2 $0.55/1 Dixie Napkins, exp. 11/19/12 (RP 08/19/12 R)
= $2.69 for two, or $1.35 each
2 Lindsay olives @ 99¢ (with in-ad coupon and card) = $1.98
- $1/2 Lindsay Product printable
= 98¢ for two, or 49¢ each
1 Advil Congestion Relief @ $6.00
- $2/1 Advil Congestion Relief printable
- $6 mail-in rebate Advil Products, exp. 10/28/12 (RP 10/14/12)
= $4.00 ($2.00 moneymaker after rebate)
Tax: 23¢
Total out of pocket: $7.90
Total saved compared to Walgreens full prices: $8.91
