Too much shopping! (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!
Last week, I was complaining I hadn't shopped enough in the previous weeks. But I made up for it this week!
I went to ALDI and Publix twice, Walmart (to get flour when ALDI didn't have any), Penn-Dutch, CVS, and Walgreens. That's 8 shopping trips - a little too much even for me.
I did go about $10 over budget, though. I hope to get back on track again next week!
Here's what I got this week:
Overall, this week I spent $89.45 for items which retail for $179.88, or a 50% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased. (But don't compare percentages!)
For the year (40 weeks), I spent $3,071.81 for items which retailed for $5,831.04 and saved $2,759.23, or a 47% savings. That's an average of $76.80 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 15, 11, and 7), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.
In 2011, I spent $4,017.13 for items which retailed for $7,344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.
How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire! Please link up directly to your post, not to the blog itself. I'd appreciate it if you put a link to Wednesday Weekly Shopping in your post as well. If you don't have a blog, please leave a comment!

How many people are in your family? Do you eat that much food without wasting any?
@Anonymous - we have 5 people: me, my husband, and my three daughters, who are 15, 11, and 7. This is not all being eaten this week - we stockpile food. We try to waste as little as possible, and we have strategies to avoid waste - I'll be writing about that soon. Thanks!
Thanks for the link up opportunity... I'm off to Aldi today to get some cheap vegetables.. :-)
