Publix: Shopping before Sandy

Here in South Florida, Hurricane Sandy is forecast to brush by us. Already the winds have picked up, and there have been some rain squalls, but so far it isn't dangerous. However, tonight and tomorrow, we should be seeing wind gusts up to 60 mph.

(ETA: News reports are now saying that Sandy will hit the Mid-Atlantic coast, and could combine with another storm to create a very powerful storm.  If you're in the affected area, stay safe!)

So I made sure to get out to Publix early this morning, so that I could pick up all the deals! But I really didn't find this week's ad particularly good. Even the unadvertised deals didn't really get me too excited.

Here are a couple of deals I planned to get, but I ended up not getting:

2 Red Gold canned tomatoes @ $1.00  = $2.00
- $1/2 Red Gold tomatoes coupon (zip 33301)
= $1.00 for two, or 50¢ each
Problem: this was listed as an unadvertised deal, but it wasn't available at my store.

2 Spice Islands oregano @ $2.89 = $5.78  (others reduced by 50¢ - $1.00)
- $1.00 off two Spice Islands Products
= $4.78 for two, or $2.39 each
Problem: I can get spices more cheaply at ALDI.  I considered getting a spice that I don't recall seeing at ALDI, like rosemary, but I decided it was still too expensive to get at this time.

So, I ended up only bought a few items. I got some Welch's grape juice cocktail with this $1.00 off TWO (2) Welch's Essentials Juice coupon.  I got some Rosetto tortellini using this $1/2 Rosetto pasta coupon.  And I got some dip - Yucatan guacamole with this B1G1 Yucatan Guacamole printable (the value is a surprise - yours might be smaller) and Marzetti Otria Greek Yogurt dip with this $0.75/1 Marzetti Otria Greek Yogurt Veggies Dip printable.
