Menu plan 9-24-12: Fasting and breaking

This week is an unusual week for meal planning.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, starts Tuesday at sundown and extends through Wednesday evening.  During that time, I will be fasting - that means no food and no water.  (There's nothing more economical than not eating!)

So Tuesday afternoon, I'll be making a sizable meal for my extended family prior to the fast.  And Wednesday night, we'll have a break the fast meal - basically a nice breakfast: bagels, cream cheese, lox, blintzes, and orange juice and coffee.

So here are my dinner plans:

Monday - baked salmon over salad greens

Tuesday afternoon - round challahchicken soup with matzo balls, roast turkey, orzo, salad, fruit salad

Wednesday - break the fast with family

Thursday - green pepper whole wheat pizza

Friday - leftover turkey, pasta with garlic and oil, salad, challah

Saturday - grilled cheese and tomato soup

Sunday - takeout!
