ALDI: Can't wait for apple season
Each week at ALDI, I buy a 3-pound bag of apples for lunches and snacks. The price of the apples has been going steadily up - a few months ago, I could get a bag for $2.59. This week, the cheapest bag was $3.49. Ouch! Can't wait for it to be apple season in the fall, when prices should start coming down again.
Here's what I got at ALDI this week:
2 gallons milk @ $2.99 = $5.98
2.75 lb bananas @ 44¢/lb = $1.21
1 3-lb apples @ $3.49
1 whole wheat bread @ $1.29
1 dried basil @ 99¢
1 2-pack multicolored peppers @ $1.69
2 apple juice concentrate @ 99¢ = $1.98
4 cans beans @ 59¢ = $2.36
1 20-ct tortillas @ $1.99
Total out of pocket: $20.98

At my store the old sign was still up from the week before. So my manager gave them to me for the $2.99 price. I was really happy with that. I bought two bags full. Now they are all gone. Our local farmer's markets said the end of August for the apples to be picked but I'm stopping again this week to see if maybe they have picked a bushel at the low price of $8.00 a bushel. I can't wait we eat soooooooooooo many apples.
I am so with you on the apples...I actually skipped apples this week, because my kids will only eat the most expensive ones:)
