Back on target! (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!
For the past few weeks, I've gone over my grocery budget of $80 per week for my family of five. That includes food, paper and plastic products, and health and beauty products, but not medicine or restaurant meals.
This week, I stayed well under $80, woohoo! My best deal was eight packages of frozen fish, which I got for free!
Here's what I got this week:
I also went to ALDI and spent $33.35 on 2 gallons of milk, 3 dozen eggs, 2 containers of cottage cheese, 2 bricks of cream cheese, 1 container of Parmesan cheese, 2 boxes of cookies (found on the discount aisle for $1.29 each), 1 pack of tortillas, 1 loaf of whole wheat bread, 2 apple juice concentrates, and 2 lb of green grapes.
Overall, this week I spent $67.88 for items which retail for $171.35, or a 60% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased. (But don't compare percentages!)
For the year (25 weeks), I spent $1,874.13 for items which retailed for $3,627.92, and saved $1753.79, or a 48% savings. That's an average of $74.97 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 14, 11, and 7), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.
In 2011, I spent $4017.13 for items which retailed for $7344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.
How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire! I'm curious which PD you visit, Hollywood or Margate? The Hollywood one is close IF I go from work ... the Margate one is better if I mix it with a Costco run ... but neither are weekly (and where's the $1.59 b/s chicken breast deals??)
Great Savings!! love the Penn Dutch deals
