Publix: Last-second deals
A few weeks ago, I posted about whether it was better to shop at the beginning or end of the sales cycle. Generally I shop at the beginning of the cycle - partly because I'm excited to get the great deals, and partly to be able to show you how to save as well.
But last week, as I looked over the deals, I noticed that there were a few great deals needing coupons from the coming Sunday's coupon inserts. So I decided to go at the end of the cycle and get those deals as well! I also found another using a Target coupon that had just been released. I love that my Publix accepts Target coupons as a competitor.
Here's what I got on Wednesday, from last week's deals:
2 Kraft Homestyle macaroni & cheese @ BOGO $2.59
- $1/2 Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese Dinner, exp. 2/29/12 (SS 01/29/12 R)
= $1.59 for two, or 80¢ each
2 Ragu pasta sauce @ BOGO $2.67
- $0.60/2 Ragu Pasta Sauce, exp. 2/26/12 (RP 01/29/12 R)
= $2.07 for two, or $1.04 each
2 Kraft dressing @ BOGO $3.19
- $0.75/2 Kraft Dressing, exp. 2/19/12 (SS 01/22/12 R)
- $1/2 Kraft Salad Dressing Target printable
= $1.44 for two, or 72¢ each
Total out of pocket: $5.10
Total saved compared to Publix full prices: $11.80

I always try to shop at the beginning of the cycle as well, especially now that the Publix rain checks have a short lifespan.
Still, sometimes this means adding in another shopping trip.
