The Prosperity Bible Review and Giveaway
UPDATE: This giveaway has ended. Click here for the winner. Please enter any of the other giveaways listed on the left sidebar.
I'm always looking for new ideas for saving money and achieving wealth. Whether it's finding new money-saving tips, trying out new cheap recipes, or using online coupons, I'm always curious about what the current experts are saying. That's why I'm always checking out the personal finance section of the bookstore, or looking on my library's website to see what new books they have.
But it seems that some of the best ideas on becoming prosperous are also the oldest!
The Prosperity Bible: The Greatest Writings of All Time on the Secret to Wealth and Prosperity (Tarcher/Penguin) contains nineteen (yes, nineteen!) personal finance books dating from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Some of these books, such as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, are still widely read today. And some are by famous people, such as The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin or The Art of Money Getting by P.T. Barnum. Still others may be unfamiliar to you, but you'll find lots of great information in each one.
At close to 1300 pages, this is quite a read. Some of the books are full-length - Think and Grow Rich covers the first 185 pages of the book - and others are very short: A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard is just a three-page essay. They come from different viewpoints - businessmen, religious leaders, philosophers, journalists. Many of the writers were members of the New Thought movement, which believed that health and wealth could be controlled through the mind. I especially appreciate that the work of three women were included, including Helen Wilmans's The Conquest of Poverty, which describes how she went from being a penniless farmer's wife to having great wealth.
From the power of positive thinking and the law of attraction, to working hard, living frugally, and investing for the future, these books will guide you to increasing your prosperity!
One note: some of the books have antiquated references that may upset some readers. For instance, in one book I found a reference insulting to African-Americans. I am somewhat surprised that the publisher kept these passages in, but I can understand that historical accuracy was desired.
But despite that, The Prosperity Bible is an incredible volume of some of the greatest works on achieving wealth. Whether you read it cover to cover or just flip through and read what happens to speak to you at that moment, you'll find universal truths and great advice throughout!
Here's a complete list of the books in The Prosperity Bible:

- Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell
