Create a health challenge!
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cafe Well. All opinions are 100% mine.
Many of us have made New Year's Resolutions to get more active and to eat healthier, but after a few days or weeks, those good intentions can get lost in the craziness of everyday life.
One way to avoid this problem is to join up with friends and create a health challenge. Join with friends or colleagues and come up with a joint goal. Maybe you'll want to have a challenge to lose weight. Or perhaps you'll want to have a healthy food challenge - avoiding junk food maybe, or eating vegetarians. Or perhaps you'd want to have an exercise challenge.
I did a group exercise challenge starting in the fall and ending last week! My sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and I set a goal to walk the Disney World Half Marathon. Though we trained separately, we kept in contact with each other about how we were doing. Knowing that my mother-in-law would ask me how far I'd walked that week often got me out the door when I would rather just relax. Without the social group interaction, I don't know if I would have finished the race!
If you're looking to be in a social group that promotes wellness, try Cafe Well.
Cafe Well describes itself as "the social network to get well and stay well." It was created to provide a safe, secure and anonymous health care destination that connects people who share health care interests and needs. The Cafe Well Community is there to address members' needs, from chronic condition support to healthy lifestyle tips and challenges.
Sponsored by HealthAmerica, Cafe Well is hosting the Race to the Moon Challenge. Race to the Moon aims to get members more fit and active by walking or running through offering free wireless pedometers which tracks their steps and rewards them for milestones and total steps.
In just under a month, the program's participants have walked over 50 million steps, and average 2.5 million steps a day. Wow!
If HealthAmerica is your health insurer, you're eligible to join the Race to the Moon program and receive a free pedometer. But even if you're not, you can create a health challenge with your friends, family, and coworkers, and become healthier in the process.
