Cheap teacher gifts

Here's how I made gift baskets for my daughters' teachers and bus drivers for only $3.89 each, using items I purchased on sale with coupons from Publix or at ALDI or dollar stores.

Here are all the items I used to make the baskets:

6 baskets @ $1.00 (bought at dollar store) = $6.00
6 mugs filled with candy @ $1.00 (bought at dollar store) = $6.00
6 boxes Celestial Seasonings @ 50¢ (bought at Publix) = $3.00
2 boxes Krusteaz cookie dough  @ 60¢ (bought at Publix) = $1.20
1 bag white chocolate chips @ $1.08 (bought at Publix)

Eggs @ 99¢/dozen (bought at ALDI
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter @ 35¢ (bought at Publix)
1 box Hefty quart-sized bags @ 70¢ (bought at Publix)
1 decorative tissue paper @ $1.00 (bought at dollar store)
1 roll cellophane wrap @ $3.00 (bought at Walmart, not pictured)
1 roll ribbon (left over from previous project)

Total spent: $23.32
Total spent per basket: $3.89

The completed basket had a box of tea, a mug filled with candy, and a bag of chocolate chip and white chocolate chip cookies.  (The second set of cookies was made with the sugar cookie mix with white chocolate chips added in.)   Decorative tissue paper was used to line the baskets, and the baskets were wrapped with cellophane wrap and tied with ribbon.  Here's the final product:

I also had leftover eggs, margarine, white chocolate chips, plastic bags, tissue paper, and ribbon.  And all of the teachers loved their gifts!

Looks great! I may try that this year. Usually, I like to bake something, though this year, I wasn't as organized as I normally am. I ended up buying $2.99 Christmas cactus from Trader Joe's for the teacher's aides and amaryllis bulbs from Home Depot.

That is a great gift idea. I am sending my kids teachers flowers for Christmas. I wasn't feeling very creative.

These baskets look great and I can see why the teachers would love them. I wish I had a Publix near me to buy items so cheaply
