Menu plan 8/22/11: Hurricane preparations
Come on, Irene!
Hurricane Irene is out in the Atlantic, and it's predicted to come this way. As of last night, the center of the prediction cone had it going almost over my house! This morning, the predicted track has shifted a bit to the east, but we're still not in the clear.
One great thing about having started couponing and getting great deals is that my cupboards are filled with canned and boxed food. So we have plenty of food if the power is out for an extended time. But we have a lot of food in the freezer, too, which we would lose. So this week's meals will be using up some of the food in the freezer, just in case. But let's hope Irene just goes away! And, of course, the end of the week meals are dependent on having electricity - otherwise we'll be eating sandwiches and the canned food.
So here's what's for dinner this week:
Monday - chicken with snow peas, rice
Tuesday - ravioli with tomato sauce, salad
Wednesday - hot dogs, chips, peas and corn
Thursday - breakfast egg casserole, bagels, fruit
Friday - baked chicken breasts, tabbouleh, broccoli, challah
Saturday - leftovers, most likely
Sunday - dinner out!
