Publix: I forgot the gas cards!

I took an unusual trip over to Publix on Wednesday. Usually I shop the deals on Friday, as I did last week. But this weekend, it dawned on me: I had forgotten to get the gas card deals!

So I went back with my receipt to see if I could get my gas cards retroactively. I spoke with the manager about it. He wasn't happy about it, and groused about the procedure, but he did do it for me. Since I had bought just over $50 in products before coupons, I was able to get two $50 gas cards for $40 each.

As long as I was going there, I had checked out some unadvertised deals on one of my favorite sites. I found a great deal on feta cheese - one of my favorite cheese, but one that I've rarely bought since sticking to an $80 per week grocery budget. I also had a few coupons left from other deals I had gotten on Friday. I sat down and figured out a way not only to get some great deals, but also to be able to get another gas card!

I ended up purchasing $25.21 in products before coupons, so I got a third $50 gas card for $40. Saving money on gas - gotta love it!

Here's what I got:

4 Presidente feta cheese @ BOGO $5.19 = $10.38
- 2 $3/2 Presidente cheeses printable (there were also $1/1 tearpad coupons next to the product)
= $4.38 for four, or $1.10 each

2 Bertolli alfredo sauce @ BOGO $2.85
- $1.00/2 Bertolli pasta sauce Target printable
= $1.85 for two, or 93¢ each

4 Sabra hummus @ BOGO $3.99 = $7.98
- 4 $1/1 Sabra Item, exp. 8/30/11 (SS 06/26/11 R)
= $3.98 for four, or $1.00 each

4 Kids Cuisine meals @ $1.00 = $4.00
- 2 $1/2 Kid Cuisine printable
= $2.00 for four, or 50¢ each

Total before coupons: $25.21 (qualifies for gas card purchase)
Total out of pocket after coupons: $12.21
Total saved compared to Publix full prices: $39.77
