CVS: Jam-packed!
I also made a run over to CVS earlier today. The deal I really, really wanted to get was this one:
Jif, Smuckers or Folgers Products
Get $5 ECBs wyb $15 (Limit 1)
--Jif Peanut Butter or Smuckers Preserves (18 oz.), 2/$5
--Folgers Classic or Decafe Coffee (22.6-33.9 oz.), $10
My plan was to get 6 Smuckers Jams and use 3 $1/2 coupons. That way I'd pay $12 and receive a $5 ECB, so I'd pay $7 for 6 jars of jam, or $1.17 each.
Well, it didn't work out quite that well. My CVS only had four jars of Smuckers jam.
But what you might not know is that, with the Get $X ECBs when you buy $Y in product deals, is that you don't have to buy all the product at once. You just have to buy them within the sales period - by Saturday, in this case.
So I bought the four jars. So now my receipt says:
Jif, Spend 15 Get 5 EB
Amount Toward this Reward: 10.00
Amount Needed to Earn Reward: 5.00
And I'll have to go back to CVS after they restock (or go to a different CVS) and get those last two jars before the end of the week.
I was also excited to get my spring Extra Care Bucks - a whopping $1.50. But something is better than nothing! Another present the coupon printing machine gave me was a coupon for a free Hershey's Air Delight candy bar. Gotta love free candy!
And, surprisingly, this week I bought soda. We don't drink soda in the house, but I was asked to bring drinks to an upcoming party, and CVS has an amazing sale on Coca-Cola products for 69¢ per 2 liter bottle.
Here's what I got:
4 Smuckers strawberry preserves @ 2/$5.00 = $10.00 (receive $5 ECB wyb $15)
- 2 $1/2 Select Smucker's Products, exp. 7/30 (RP 5/22/11)
= $8.00
1 Hershey's Air Delight @ $1.19
- FREE Hershey's Air Delight coupon from the coupon printing machine
= FREE
2 Oral-B Cross Action toothbrushes @ $3.00 = $6.00 (receive $2 ECB)
- $2/1 Oral-B Pulsar, CrossAction, Advantage, or (2) Indicator or Cavity Defense Manual Toothbrushes, exp. 7/31/11 (P&G 07/03/11)
- 1 B1G1 Oral-B CrossAction Toothbrush, exp. 7/31/11 (P&G 06/05/11)
= $1.00 ($1.00 moneymaker after ECBs)
2 Coca-Cola products, 2 liter @ 69¢
= $1.38
2 Gillette body wash @ $3.00 = $6.00
- 1 B1G1 Gillette Bodywash, exp. 7/31/11 (P&G 06/05/11)
- 1 $1/1 Gillette Body Wash, exp. 7/31/11 (P&G 07/03/11)
= $2.00 for two, or $1.00 each
2 Listerine Zero, 500 mL @ $3.69 = $7.38 (receive $2 ECB)
- 2 $1/1 Listerine Zero Mouthwash, exp. 12/31/11 (SS 01/09/11 #2)
= $5.38 for two, or $2.69 each ($1.69 after ECBs)
Total product: $17.76
Pay with $8.50 in ECBs from coupon printing machine and previous weeks
Total after ECBs: $9.26
Tax: $1.25
Total out of pocket: $10.51
Total saved compared to CVS full prices: $42.81
ECBs received: $4.00

Don't you hate it when you have a plan and then CVS doesn't have what you planned to buy? You still did a great job!
That is good to know about the deal adding through the week. I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.
