Wednesday Weekly Shopping: Way over budget this week

This week, I went a full $20 over budget.  Not surprising, though, since $60 of it was spent on filling up my freezer with kosher meat.  But otherwise, I spent $40 for the week - not too bad.  And I'm still well below the $80 per week average that I budget for.  Still, I'm hoping that I go under budget for the next few weeks.

Here's what I got this week (click on the link below the picture for more details about the trip):

Kosher butcher - spent $56.63

ALDI: Spent $20.95

Produce store: Spent $5.38

Publix: Spent $6.79

CVS: Spent $1.35

Walgreens: Spent $5.80

Overall, this week I spent $100.86 for items which retail for $137.16, or a 26% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.  (But don't compare percentages!)  My real savings (how much more I'd spend if I bought those items at the lowest possible regular price in my area) was approximately $13.72.

For the year (25 weeks), I've spent $1875.30 for items which retail for $3636.12, and saved $1760.82, or a 48% savings. That's an average of $75.01 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 13, 10, and 6), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat.
