ALDI: Why so many tortillas?
In a comment to my last ALDI shopping post, Michelle asked:
Thanks for the questions, Michelle! We do use up a lot of tortillas. In fact, I generally buy at least one package at ALDI each trip. At 99¢ for 10 large tortillas, they are by far the cheapest price around.
- Okay. I have to ask. what do you use so many flour tortillas for? You're constantly buying them!
Here are some things we use tortillas for:
- Cheese quesadillas - the kids love them for a snack. Sprinkle shredded cheese on the bottom half of a tortilla, fold over, microwave for 30 seconds, cut into four triangles.
- Roll-ups: spread cream cheese over the tortilla, sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar, then roll up and eat!
- Burritos: fill the center with refried beans, salsa, and cheese. Then roll up loosely and microwave for 1-2 minutes.
- Homemade tortilla chips: Brush both sides with oil, sprinkle with salt and a little chili powder or cumin. Cut up into triangles and bake in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes or until crisp.
