ALDI: Why so many tortillas?

In a comment to my last ALDI shopping post, Michelle asked:

Okay. I have to ask. what do you use so many flour tortillas for? You're constantly buying them!
Thanks for the questions, Michelle!  We do use up a lot of tortillas.  In fact, I generally buy at least one package at ALDI each trip.  At 99¢ for 10 large tortillas, they are by far the cheapest price around.

Here are some things we use tortillas for:
  • Cheese quesadillas - the kids love them for a snack.  Sprinkle shredded cheese on the bottom half of a tortilla, fold over, microwave for 30 seconds, cut into four triangles.
  • Roll-ups: spread cream cheese over the tortilla, sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar, then roll up and eat!
  • Burritos: fill the center with refried beans, salsa, and cheese.  Then roll up loosely and microwave for 1-2 minutes.
  • Homemade tortilla chips: Brush both sides with oil, sprinkle with salt and a little chili powder or cumin.  Cut up into triangles and bake in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes or until crisp.
Speaking of tortillas, I bought some at ALDI this week, as well as all this:

2 gallons milk @ $2.19 = $4.38
2 bricks cream cheese @ $1.29 = $2.58
1 baby carrots @ 99¢
1 bunch bananas @ 87¢ (44¢/lb)
1 cottage cheese @ $1.99
1 2-lb package green grapes @ $1.89
1 3-lb bag Fuji apples @ $2.79
1 3-pack green peppers @ $1.69
1 flour tortillas @ 99¢
1 whole wheat bread @ $1.29
1 apple juice @ $1.49

Total spent: $20.95

The tortillas cut into triangles and brushed with butter or sprayed with butter and spread with sprinkled cin. and sugar make a great snack on chip as well.

Or just with butter crisp up and serve with Salsa they are a great cheap snack.

Also, fill with fruit and sugar make a mini pie top with conf. sugar.

Any meat scraps and cheese make a great lunch.

The list go on and on.
