Publix: It helps to know the cashiers!
With my children all healthy and Spring Break behind us, it was time yesterday to get some deals!
I first stopped at Publix. There were a lot of great coupon deals this week. But, unfortunately, my copies of the coupon inserts didn't have the necessary coupons... oh, well. Also, when I went to print out the Mueller's coupon, it said "One per customer" on it. I know I saw lots of bloggers buying 20 or more boxes with as many coupons, so I wonder if this wording is new?
Lastly, when I went to check out, I checked out with one of my favorite cashiers. She knows how much I love to coupon, so she looked through some coupons she had at the register and gave me a store coupon for $1.00 off grapes - without me asking or anything! Apparently the store had given out this coupon during a customer appreciation event, which I had missed. I'll be sure to go to any more events in the future!
Here's what I got:
2 Mueller's spaghetti @ BOGO $1.49
- $1/1 Mueller's printable coupon (sign up for newsletter)
= 49¢ for two, or 25¢ each
2 Ragu alfredo sauce @ BOGO $2.67
= $1.34 each (no coupons)
2 Emerald mixed nuts @ BOGO $5.79
- $1.50/2 Emerald nuts coupon from the 3/13 RedPlum insert
= $4.29 for two, or $2.15 each
2 Friendship cottage cheese @ $2.49 = $4.98
- $1/2 Friendship cottage cheese blinkie manufacturer's coupon
- 2 $1/1 Friendship cottage cheese Publix coupon from the Yellow Advantage flyer
= $1.98 for two, or 99¢ each
1.74 lb grapes @ $1.49/lb = $2.59
- $1 off grapes Publix coupon
= $1.59
Total spent: $11.02
Total saved: $18.21

Be careful, though: I went to the local Publix here and my coupons vs. actual products caused the register to refuse to allow my debit card to go through. They saved the transaction and sent me to the service desk, where they wanted me to pay cash, THEN put my coupons through! I guess balance is the key!
