Wednesday Weekly Shopping: Lunchables? Me?
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below!
"Can we have some Lunchables?" This is a question my daughter asks pretty much every time we go to the local grocery store. Those smart store managers display the Lunchables in the first refrigerator case you get to when you enter the store, so she sees it and asks for it.
Now, I'm not a fan of Lunchables. They're expensive, not all that healthy, and they have a lot of packaging that has to be thrown away. So I say no, and she's disappointed, until we walk fifteen feet and get to the Trix yogurt. "Can I have that?"
So, this week, I saw that there was a sale at Target for Lunchables for $1.00. That, combined with a Target printable coupon for $1/2, reduced the cost to 50 cents. So..... I decided to buy two, as a treat. But just this once! (but I'm still not happy about the packaging)
I used lots of coupons at Target this week. I had a coupon for a free dozen eggs from a mailer, and got $1 off a bag of apples, a loaf of bread, and a produce item of my choice (I chose strawberries). If you haven't checked out Target's store coupons (go to target.com and click on Coupons), you definitely should.
I also cherry-picked the sales, and combined them with coupons, at Winn-Dixie and Publix. I see a lot of macaroni and cheese in my future, as between sales and coupons I bought 12 boxes of Barilla pasta for 20 cents each, and 10 bags of Kraft cheese for $1.00 each. I also bought a few produce and dairy items at a local grocery chain. I didn't need any meat or vegetables this week, as I had lots of leftovers from the bat mitzvah. I didn't go to any drug stores this week, but I'll need to soon to use up some CVS Extra Care Bucks that will be expiring.
Overall, I spent $66.04 ($14 under budget) for items worth $137.87, or a 52% savings.

I think lunchables are gross too! My husband loves them...YUCK! I will say that the packaging isn't environmentally friendly, but it works great when crafting with kids! I wash the trays and throw them in the craft box. When we paint or use glue they work great! I reuse them again and again. Then recycle in the bin at work!
Glad your back, was worried that maybe something was wrong somewhere. I completely understand how things get busy at home! I'm glad everything is ok!

Lunchables are nothing but straight sodium. I used to love them as a kid but now that I'm an adult the mere sight of one makes me feel nauseous.
I wish our Target had a full grocery store! Nice deals. Thanks for stopping by my blog and linking up!
