Giveaway: 10,001 Ways to Live Large on a Small Budget

UPDATE: This giveaway has now ended.

Announcing the next Frugal Follies giveaway: the book 10,001 Ways to Live Large on a Small Budget by the writers of Wise Bread.

The book contains quick, easy tips on living the good life cheaply.  It contains lists - lots and lots and lots of lots and lots of lists - on a variety of topics.  The Frugal Living section includes lists on saving on food and drink, travel, health and beauty, fun and entertainment, shopping, green living, and education.  The Personal Finance section includes lists about planning and budgeting, credit cards and debt, investments, housing, and careers.

The best part about this book is that since the articles are from a personal finance blog, they're short, entertaining, and useful.  You'll learn a lot from this book!

This book was originally in my book collection; I decided to part with it while clutter cleaning.  It is a used book, but it is in very good condition - it is the kind of book I would definitely sell online.  The cover is shiny, the pages are crisp, the binding is very tight, and there are no marks in the book itself.

You can enter this giveaway up to four times by leaving a comment below.  Here's how you can win:
1.  Leave a comment about your favorite quick and easy money-saving idea, or what you're hoping to learn by reading this book.
2.  Follow me on Twitter and leave a comment saying you're following.
3.  Subscribe to my RSS feed, and leave a comment saying you've subscribed.
4.  Become a fan on Facebook and leave a comment saying you've become a fan.

For the last three, if you're already a follower, a fan, and/or a subscriber, just leave a comment saying you've already done so.

This giveaway ends on April 28th, 2010 at 11:59 pm.  Good luck!

I like to shop online and use cash back shopping sites to get cash back. Plus, you can usually find free shipping and no sales tax, so there are a lot of saving opportunities! :) I would love to learn more in this book.

Frugal living ideas have been going through my head all morning...
My tip for here is to freeze all leftovers so that no food goes to waste.

I'm a college student living on a small budget who is about to graduate and jump into the "real world". Basically, I am looking to learn ANYTHING! I love books like this and learning new ways to save, and something like this would be super helpful!

I always ask around before I purchase things. Sometimes I am able to get reviews from people (what brand is good, what isn't) and sometimes I am even able to borrow the item from someone (example: Bumbo for my son).
On the other side, if I am getting rid of something, I try to see if anyone else needs it before I donate it to Goodwill.

I try to shop from my own closet first -- I've got lots of things squirreled away and tend to forget about them, so I've learned to look before I spend!

Some of the best techniques for saving are:
-use common sense! Think to yourself, "do i really NEED this item?"
-cook at home. meals at home cost 80% less than eating out!
-budget and stick to your own guidelines!

I'd like to learn ways to save on big items...i already penny pinch so i need ideas on how to save with bigger things and what times of the year to buy major purchases.
thx, rachel

My favorite way to save is to use coupons all the time. I also like to get freebies thru facebook at manufacturer's websites. I also suggest emailing all the companies that you buy from & commenting on their products to get valuable coupons sometimes free product coupons.

I love coupons, but am exploring crafts and upcycling as my newest ventures.

I'm a follower of your blog and one of my favorite ways to save money is to use 1/2 the suggested amount of laundry detergent and wash the clothes in cold water!

This book is in my Amazon queue (since my library doesn't have it) awaiting a Swagbucks spree. I would definitely dig it and use the advice to meet my goal of saving 1/4 of our income this year!

I'm looking to find more information on saving on travel. My husband and I haven't gone anywhere since our honeymoon (many, many, many years ago) since we're trying to save money.

Thanks!

I love using the library. We like to check out exercise videos. A good way to change it up so it doesn't get boring. Thanks
